"My birth educator recommended Hillery to me as I wanted a doula who could attend our baby's birth and help us in the postpartum period. She has been the perfect match for us. In fact, if I could go back I might choose Hillery to be our birth educator in addition to our doula as she really does it all!
We had a nice phone call to get acquainted where she familiarized me with her doula services and packages. Then she sent me a helpful package in the mail full of local pregnancy and new mom services. Next she came over and went over labor positions and comfort measures with my husband and me in person. She kept in close contact as our due date approached, and was always quick to text back if I had questions or just wanted to share any news. She was also available to go to appointments with me if I so desired. Hillery was even open to any hair-brained ideas I got about labor and delivery.
Hillery met us at the hospital for the start of induction and kept us company as the process kicked off. The induction ended up taking days, and she was continually available. She had such a calming effect with her touch and words of encouragement. She never imposed her own recommendations or preferences on my birth or made me feel bad about my own labor and birth decisions. I loved that she was knowledgeable about spinning babies and had so many helpful recommendations about labor positions for the various stages of labor. She made our hospital birth as close to a home birth as possible. There were many hours that it was just Hillery, my husband and me in the room. One of my first memories after our baby was born was Hillery guessing his weight quite acurately.
I can't say enough about how great a resource she has been since birth. She helps take care of our baby so I can catch up on my to do list. She attends doctor's appointments. She even came with me to shop for a nursing bra! I joke the she is my best friend for hire these days!"

"As a first time mom, Hillery was a great resource and support from the moment I started working with her all the way through labor and delivery and postpartum.
Some examples of how she supported my husband and I during the last weeks of pregnancy were: meeting with us several times to teach us about what to expect at each stage of labor, provide guidance on how to write a birth plan (she printed several laminated copies and they came in handy at the hospital), laminated flashcards showing positions to help manage pain during early stages of labor, and coming to one of my OB checks to meet my doctor. By knowing what was to come, I definitely felt more at ease when I got to the hospital. She provided great support to my husband by preparing a list of vocabulary words and definitions of terms he would hear the doctors and nurses use as well as a checklist for him to follow when I went into labor so that he knew exactly what to do.
I had a long labor and Hillery guided me every step of the way. It was in the little things that she did that really made a difference such as playing soft music and setting up battery powered candles in my room to establish a calming environment. When I had to decide what pain management option I wanted, she helped me understand each option and the pros and cons of each. She helped me stay focused and gave me the encouragement that I needed especially towards the end.
Once I was home from the hospital, she continued to help me by showing me how to apply a postpartum wrap, tips for breastfeeding and overall care for my baby.
I would highly recommend Hillery as a doula. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work. She will answer any question you have and do the research if she doesn't know right off hand. She loves what she does. Overall, she went above and beyond in her role as my doula. I'm thankful that Hillery was with me during this transformational journey to motherhood."
